Evelyn Brandt Thomas Receives the Order of Lincoln Honor

Springfield, Illinois – April 14, 2024 - Evelyn Brandt Thomas, co-founder of BRANDT, has been honored with the prestigious Order of Lincoln by The Lincoln Academy of Illinois. The award is Illinois’ highest honor for professional achievement and public service, which signifies Evelyn’s commitment to the BRANDT business and philanthropic efforts.  

Evelyn Brandt Thomas has dedicated her life to serving both her community and the agricultural industry. From humble beginnings on a farm near Pleasant Plains, Illinois to co-founding BRANDT alongside her brother Glen, her journey to this award is marked by resilience, integrity and an unwavering commitment to helping others.

“I am both blessed and humbled to receive the Order of Lincoln honor,” said Evelyn Brandt Thomas. “We started the business to earn a living. And through hard work and perseverance it has grown into a reputable global company. It has given me the tools to do important things for others through my philanthropic work. I owe this honor to everyone who has been on this journey with me.”

Throughout her over seven decades of leadership, Evelyn has helped guide BRANDT to become a global leader in agriculture, with over 800 employees. Under her stewardship, BRANDT has remained rooted in Illinois, while expanding its reach and impact to more than 80 countries.

Evelyn's passion for philanthropy and mentorship reaches far and wide. An advocate for agriculture education, medical research and civic responsibility, Evelyn, even at 100 years old, is making an impact to elevate the quality of life for her fellow Illinoisans.

“The 2024 Class of Lincoln Laureates has seven outstanding individuals who have achieved significant accomplishments in diverse areas,” said Leanne Barnhart, Executive Director of The Lincoln Academy of Illinois. “Evelyn Brandt Thomas is an exceptional role model for all Illinoisans and especially for young women to become positive leaders.”

Evelyn will receive her prestigious honor at the 60th Annual Convocation on April 13 at the Chicago History Museum. There, she will be joined by fellow 2024 Lincoln Laureates: Lewis Collins, Hon. Rita B Garman, Alison Krauss, Lester H McKeever, Jr., Raul I Raymundo and James H Thome.
